<itunes:summary>Twitter can be a great source of traffic to your blog and with plugins it has become very easy to integrate the two. Integration makes it easier and saves you time because it automates things leaving you free to do what is most important on your blog - Create Great Content.
Here are 3 plugins that can make your blog more interactive and save you time.

Tweet My Blog

Tweet Meme

Twitterlink Comments
Now lets look at what each does.
Tweet My Blog - This will automatically tweet each time you add a post and allow you to display your latest tweets on your blog. This lets your Twitter followers know about your latest post which can draw extra visitors depending on the size of your Twitter followers. Having your tweets displayed in your side bar helps you to always have fresh content for the spiders if you are active on Twitter.
Tweet Meme - This will add a button to your posts (you can see it above right here on the blog) that allows your readers to retweet your post with a single click if they are signed into Twitter.
When this happens your new post shows up on all of their followers timelines. Now at the time I am writing this I have over 18000 followers so if I click this on your blog it goes out to all of those people.
Now it is very easy for me to click that button if I like your post (back to having great content) but the odds of me telling my followers about it if I need to do it manually are slim and none unless you really wowed me.
Twitterlink Comments - This will allow you to reward your commenters. It adds a box where commenters can add their Twitter id and it will add a link to their Twitter page. This is another way of helping your commenters and as long as they are adding to the conversation. Anything I can do to reward those that take the time to add valuable content to my blog and get them to comment more is a plus.
These 3 plugins will definitely help you integrate Twitter with your blog but it is only valuable if you are adding good content and active on Twitter. Two things you should be doing anyhow.
Your questions and comments are always welcomed.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The one thing you never get enough of to your blog is traffic. Doing some article marketing to your blog can be an effective strategy in a couple of different ways.

Direct traffic from the article directories
Direct traffic from those re-publishing your articles
Better ranking in the search engines because of the links from your articles
Here are 3 ways to help accomplish that.
Two part articles
Now to generate traffic directly from either the article directories or the people re-publishing your articles the easiest way is the two part article.
Use part 1 as the article that you will submit and have part 2 on your blog. Here is an example where I am going to write about 10 ways to do something.
Submit 5 ways to do x to the article directories and then in your signature file use something like "Go here For 5 more ways to do x " linking to the other 5 ways of your 10 ways on your blog.
You can use any variation of this but the key is that if the first part was helpful the reader will want to get even more information and will click through to your blog.
Now of course it will be most beneficial if your blog is set up to get the reader involved with more than just that article or to get them to subscribe to your blog but that is a topic for a different time.

Good Anchor Links
A second way that you can use articles to generate traffic is through using good anchor links. Now this works best when you are targeting long tail keywords on your blog and you need to link to specific blog posts not your home page.
If you are trying to rank in the serps for a specific keyword make sure that you are linking to your post on that topic with that keyword as the clickable link in your signature.
You could use a signature file using something like "You can get even more information on keyword phrase here" making the term keyword phrase be hyperlinked to your specific post.
Here you would love people to click through but your big benefit will be to have solid anchor links pointing to your post on that topic.
Building Your Blog Update List
A third way to use article marketing to increase your blog traffic is to use the signature file to link to a squeeze page where people can sign up to get your blog updates. If you use an autoresponder like Aweber you can automatically send an email each time you update your blog to people on that list so that they can come visit your site again.
Doing this will increase your traffic because you will be reminding people as you keep adding content to come back and check it out.
It is important to have a compelling offer or as a friend of mine calls it an ethical bribe for signing up. Just link to that page from your signature file in your article.
So there are 3 ways you can increase your blog traffic using article marketing. Now go do an article a week and see how much it can help your blog traffic increase.

Why Increase Your Blog Traffic?
One of the big problems for new bloggers is to get people to visit their new blog. Unlike the movie "Field Of Dreams" if you build it they will not come unless you let them know it exists. So if you have started your blog and you feel that you are talking to yourself here are 5 ways to increase your traffic.
Blog Comments
Commenting on related blogs is probably one of the best ways to get targeted traffic. When you comment and take part in the conversation you are getting known in your niche. If you are actually participating and adding value the visitors there will be more likely to follow your link to see what else you have to say.

Articles
Writing articles and submitting them to the various article directories is another great way to get traffic to your blog. If you are providing good content and use a signature to get more information on that topic visit my blog. Others can use your content this way and when they do they will need to keep your signature so you can get additional traffic from any number of sources.
Forums
Taking part in various forums that are related to your topic and adding in a link to your blog in your signature (where allowed) can be another way to get traffic to your blog. The more quality information you add to the forum the more likely people will click through to read your blog.
Social Bookmarking
Taking the time to bookmark your posts to some of the bookmarking sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, et al. Now here it is important that you are regularly using these sites to bookmark quality content and not just your own. That way you will generate a following that will trust your recommendations and increase the chances of people clicking through to your post.
Twitter
Letting your Twitter followers know when you have added new content is another great way to get extra visitors. Telling your Twitter followers about content other than yours within your niche will increase the chances that they will click through to read your posts.
In summary all of these ways will help you add visitors to your blog easily. Your blog and all of these ways are based on being part of a community and the more ways that you take part in the community the better resource you become. As you build your credibility within the community your traffic will increase.
Mike Paetzold is a long time blogger and you can find more ways to generate traffic to your blog regularly at 15 Minute Blog Traffic.

Usually they join just for the shiny object - the sidebar widget you can add to your blog that shows who is visiting and allows you to show others when you have visited. Just look to the right on this blog and if you are logged in at MyBlogLog your avatar will be there and I can see who is visiting.
Anyone can click the avatar and go see more about you at MyBlogLog.
There is a lot more to the service though than just the widgets.
It can be used for...

Tracking what is happening
Creating interaction with others
Research what is hot in your area
A portal for all of your social interaction
So the first part here if you are not using MyBlogLog is go sign up and get an account. Make sure to fill out your profile, add your picture or what you use for an avatar (very important this is what will brand you as you visit others blogs) add in the tracking code and widget to your blog.
Join my community ;)
Then if I get enough comments I will continue the series and get into some of the real power of using MyBlogLog. So if you are interested in this topic your comments will decide if it continues.

		<itunes:summary>Today's question:

Most of the time it is text widgets that cause a problem usually because of the width of your sidebar. Add something in wider and it throws the whole layout out of whack (one of them technical terms ;) ).
There are a couple ways to overcome this.
If it is a subscription form like the standard Aweber form make sure you use the html and not the java script form and you can edit the tables to put the box below the name or even change the size of the box.
This post goes into detail on doing just that.
How to add Aweber signup to your sidebar
If it is a banner or other fixed item it is a bit more difficult to resolve. With images you will need to resize them to fit in the sidebar with an image editor.
Your other choice is to play with the widths in the css style sheet which while not difficult can be a bit for some to overcome. IF you are going to do that make a copy of the style sheet before you start.
You can make the main content smaller and increase the sidebar by the same amount you decreased the main content so that your items will fit.
This may cause problems if your theme uses images for title backgrounds which is why a back up is important. If you totally mess it up just upload the original style sheet and you are back to the beginning but at least your blog will show.
If you are not comfortable with that then I would recommend finding a new theme that has sufficient space in the sidebar.
As always your comments and questions are welcomed.</itunes:summary>
