All great points Mike. I know that I get traffic from commenting and I do some pillar posts (should do more) but I have not utilized the guest post idea. I can see how that would benefit both blogs.

Those are three great ways that you mentioned Mike. I would like to get my blog to the status of having a guest blogger. That would be really nice.

All three ideas are a great, and all three have two ways that you mentioned that drive more traffic.
You first have the link back to your site which will help to increase your search engine rankings, then you will also have the visitors clicking that link coming to your blog… for long term and short term traffic!

Thanks for these three ways to get traffic. I’ve heard of Pillar Posts before but have never quite understood the concept. Could you elaborate on the basics of a Pillar Post a bit more? Maybe make a Pillar Post on Pillar Posts?

I have yet to do either of the first 2. Guess I’ll try them out.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the term Pillar Post before. And it never occurred to me to guest blog. I do do some commenting, but almost always with the same people. Guess I thought that since most people had no follow set ups it wasn’t worth the effort. But I guess I could still draw traffic. Thanks for the food for thought.

Good points. Like Earl says “I don’t think I’ve ever heard the term Pillar Post before. And it never occurred to me to guest blog. I do do some commenting, but almost always with the same people.”
