Are you linking with these Web 2.0 properties?
Generating links is one of the keys to improving your search engine rankings. Various Web 2.0 properties can be an excellent way to do this and there are a couple advantages to using them.
- They tend to be high PR pages
- You get to set the exact anchor text
Here are 3 that I like to use.
- Squidoo
- Hub Pages
- Google Knol
All of these are free sites that you can use and they allow you to add in the RSS feed from your blog. You need to add in direct links to your pages using anchor text for what the page is about.
You can use each of these to target one of your long tail keywords per page.
These are just a few of the linking strategies that will be covered in the WordPress SEO Call on Wednesday at 7 pm.

If you use these sites to send google juice to your blog, do you ruin it by adding the RSS feeds? Arn’t the RSS feeds in essence a link back from your blog to the site?
I have also been taught, and teach others to Link from one of these site to the next and then to the next and on to your site. In my case, I always link from Knol to Hub pages to Squidoo, so I don’t someday forget and create a loop.

I add my blog RSS to each of those not the other way around so all links are incoming and my new posts keep those fresh.

I have to admin – Google Knol is one thing I haven’t done enough off. I have read multiple info on it and still haven’t seen a solid proof that Google gives much weight to its own tool

Thanks for this tip. I have used Squidoo and Hub Pages some but not nearly enough. I have not used Google Knol. there are way to many Web 2.0 sites to try to keep up with and maintain. Knowing three that are considered to be among the top is good information.
