Back to basics for a bit
One of the things that sometimes happens is that it becomes easy to assume things. Now if you have ever broken the word assume down into it’s pieces you know what happens then.
ASS/U/ME
To try and avoid that I will be starting a new series on blogging basics.
Still adding topics to the list and if you have one you would like to see added leave a comment below. Here is what is on the list so far.
- Installation tips
- Security and backup procedure
- Integrating Aweber
- What you need in a blog host
- Adding plugins
- Editing themes
- Tools I like
Some of these have been covered previously but it is time to get back to basics and make sure that I am providing information that will help you.
On another note I am going to be putting together a blog tour and if you would like me as a guest on your blog send in a note to the support desk. I am looking to visit at least 6 blogs for 5 days at a time between now and the end of the year.
This summer another of my blogs was a stop on Nicole Dean’s Rockstar Blog Tour this summer and I decided it would be good for me to do the same. Nicole released a book on how to do a blog tour and you can grab a copy of Blog World Tour Guide.
Remember contact me if you would like me to visit you or if you have a new topic for the list above leave a comment.

It is good to see your post again. I will enjoy these topics. I would also like you to talk about widgets, how to put them on and move them around. I think there have to be more people than me that could use a hand. Look forward to the series.

Good Luck on the Blog Tour. I’m intrigued by the idea. Just don’t think I have enough regular visitors to merit a visit.

I like to see a lot more about plugin, reviews, ratings and optimization (see all the options and tweeks you can do in All in One SEO. Needed? Not much explained).
Recently I looked for a certain subject and was amazed how many plugins were available. There were so many it was hard to choose from. Some might not even work well. I just did an expert blog installation and was amazed with the number of plugins. Are this helping it slowing down your blog. Some blogs are really slow coming up.
Like Earl said above, Blog Tour is intriguing, I just have not looked deeply into that. Can this to be considered in small teams? I did see Nicole’s sales page but didn’t purchase it (yet?).

Smart move, Mike! When marketers have been online as long as you and I have been it’s easy to lose track of what a newbie knows and doesn’t know, and then lose them by assuming they know more than they do about the technical side of our industry.
But it’s more than that – it also provides a great (and often needed) review for the rest of us, to make sure we haven’t forgotten any steps in our more recent endeavors…
Keep up the great work!

Mike good luck with the blog tour. I agree with Earl, “Just don’t think I have enough regular visitors to merit a visit.” Wish I had more.
Also, want to note that I will be following your back to the basics posts here. Thanks

Back to the basics. I got to tell you Mike that I often go back to your previous posts to get info I need – for example WP backups. I too look forward to these posts.
