Google Buzz and Twitter – Are they mutually exclusive?
One of the things I really like and at the same time hate about Google Buzz is the ease of integrating other services into it. Not sure that Twitter adds to Buzz as often there is too much.
Now I love and use Twitter but do not want to see it in my Buzz timeline. I just unfollowed a good friend because he is an active tweeter and was averaging over 50 tweets a day and it was making it almost impossible to see the new quality content I look for on Buzz.
Now to be clear the same person that I unfollowed on Buzz I do follow on Twitter and there I even have them in my special group so I see all of the tweets in Tweet Deck.
The other big problem with having followers that integrate their Twitter feed is that they show up in my reader. Now regular readers here know that I have long used Google Reader to keep current with specific topics. It is the base I use to build relationships and supply quality content to my Twitter followers using the methods outlined in Twitter Time Saver .
Doubling the amount of items or more that shows up there creates a huge waste of time checking the latest items. If it is relevant, the news feeds will pick them up anyway and I would prefer to reward the original content creator than to make people go through multiple steps to get valuable information.
So now as I find more people to follow I check their output and with rare exceptions I don’t follow people that are active on Twitter and integrate it with their Buzz feed.
The downside for those people is that I no longer see their content when using the regular Google search which integrates social search. When I am specifically searching on Google I do tend to look for that because I tend to trust the information that comes from people I have a relationship with more than just what Google has found for me.

As you can see Google will find the latest items from my social circle on any topic along with their normal results. This is one reason why I recommend you grab Google Social Search Secrets and find out how to take the best advantage of this new item if you are using Buzz. Those that integrate Twitter and are very active won’t be showing there in mine and if others feel the same this can definitely hurt some of the results your Buzz account can add.
In my opinion integrating Twitter with your Buzz is not a good idea and may end up hurting you more than it helps you. What do you think? Leave your comments below.

Some very useful information as I regularly use Twitter and have just started using Buzz. It can be a lot to take in and when you don’t have a lot of time you want to try and use it efficiently. Will take a look at “Google Social Search Secrets” and see just how it can help out. Thanks.
