Plugins I am using right now
Figured I would take advantage of the things that I am doing that have kept me from posting here. See I am working on outsourcing and have been adding people to my business and this has caused me to have to step back and actually document what I do.
That is one of the reasons that my posting on all of my blogs has been down this week. Yep, sometimes you have to step back to move forward. To do this I have been mind mappping the various processes so they can do exactly what I do. Really should have been doing this for myself before this but a lot of waht I do is automatic for me.
You really should be mindmapping your processes and Discover Free Mind is a great way to discover how to do it.
Back to the main point – I just finished going through and mapping out how I install each blog I add. This way I can just hand it ot my VA and let them put up the blog for me.
Here is a copy of what I created.

So there you have the current list of what I add to my blogs. Now there are a lot of other plugins that I may add for specific purposes but that is a good list of what I currently use.
Hope that helps you and will be back to more normal schedule soon.
Mike Paetzold

Hey Mike,
Have you tried HeadSpace 2 yet? If so, what are your thoughts.
If not, you gotta try it. I was a dyed-in-the-wool All-in-One SEO girl, but came upon a post about Head Space 2 in one of the SEO sites. Wow…
It automatically populates the title and creates a description from your post for you. I mean, you can tweak however you want, but it saves time.
Also finds tags for your post that you can accept or reject. Or edit. Whatever.
It’s really great for newbies who aren’t that SEO inclined.
Love it! And hey! Hope you’re doing well.

Mike was their a bottom leg to your mind map under Optional plug ins, if so it did not show for me viewing it on Firefox. I have found mind mapping to be useful when I do it. I often don’t which is unfortunate.
Looks like you have a few plug ins I should be checking out.

Yes there is but I only copied part of the mind map that listed the lpugins I use. The balance of it goes through the exact tweaks I make to each setting on the blog. Some things are only for paying customers

Thanks

Mike,
I also found a couple of plugins I was not using. Pretty much have most of what you have as I got most from you, LOL. Will take a look at the others. What made you decide to outsource your work? Have heard a lot about it.

Powerful list there, Mike – my only quibble is with the DoFollow plugin, which I feel should be in the mandatory list instead of the optional list. If someone takes the time to leave an intelligent comment on my blog, the least I can do is give them a bit of SEO love in return.

How interesting you mention Freemind in your post Mike. I think it is an absolutely fantastic tool that many people would find of great advantage in clarifying their thoughts and plans.
I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Cheers,

I really like all in one SEO, really can’t beat it as the best plugin for your blog. It really helps optimize your blog and make it search engine compatible which is a must if you want organic traffic. Sitemap is good too so Google indexes all of your pages. Man do I love WordPress!

Mike,
I’ve been stepping back all week and have yet to move forward very much.
Thanks for the list of plugins. I use several of them – will look into subscribe me and simple tags.

Very cool!
I can see how mind maps are so easy to tell someone else the steps involved in a process. The next time I hire someone to install or create something for me, a mind map will be what I use.

Hi Mike,
Have you seen this one? I am using it on my site.
It’s a free plugin:
http://hopadbuilder.com/
You can see it here under “CHECK THESE OUT” column.
Thanks!

Yes I looked at it but the hop ads aren’t targeted enough. Like the idea but when testing it the keyword had little or no effect on the type of products being shown and they were totally off topic to the bog I tested it on. If they could make it targeted it would be worthwhile alternative to using adsense.

Right! It all depends what type of site you have. I am testing here and so far the ads have been pretty much targeted.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
Have a great one!

Great list of plug-ins Mike.
I like most here are using most but not all of these plug-ins. Will definitely have to go back and try some of the ones that I am not using.
Thanks for the list and love the mindmap!

Mike, I really appreciate you sharing your list of plug-ins. I’m using most of them, since I’ve been following your recommendations.
Can you say why you don’t want to use Fantastico to install WordPress? My main quibble with using it is that my host doesn’t use the latest and greatest version, so I have to update manually. Of course, I don’t want to be the first on the block to update either.

Mike,
Why do you not use Fantstico to install WordPress.
And how do you become a paying customer? I’m not sure which ad on your site it to your stuff.
Thanks
Robert

Hi
A plug in I have found to be very useful is Broken Link Checker.
I put a lot of links in my posts and this is very useful if I make a typo or the link changes at some time.

Is the link for it.
