Twitter going more main stream
Yesterday I picked up a new follower – my local newspaper. More and more the press and others are getting involved in social media. Now I don’t live in a major metropolitan area and the local paper is not covering a major metropolitan area. Most of our big towns the average person not from this area would not recognize.
The major news outlets have long had a presence on Twitter. Fox News has been using it for quite some time (but then again Rupert Murdoch owns them). Twitter is growing by leaps and bounds at this point.
At the very least you should have an account and be watching how people are using it. More tips in the video below.

I hear more an more National public radio people talking about twitter as well. I confess I have my doubts. There is so much traffic I end up not reading any of it, most days.

Hi Mike,
I’ve recently signed up for twitter and learning how to use it. I have to say though that I’m getting followeres that look and feel like spam and MLM. I have no problem with MLM but I thought Twitter was intended to be a community type device. I guess it’s just important as in any other online social media sites to watch what you do and who you deal with.
As for the old bald guy – I like the videos but also like your content
Thanks,

Hi, Mike!
Have to say I’m not surprised your local media is following you – just surprised larger outlets aren’t following you as well, since you consistently provide great up-to-the-minute information about blogging and using blogs effectively.
As to the videos, Yes Please! For those of us who are online 12 hours a day and often more, they provide a nice break for our text-weary eyes, and help us to put a more personal connection to people we follow like yourself. Look forward to a lot more videos!

Hey Mike,
I agree that Twitter has become the social norm. I am just beginning to understand what can be done with the site. Will be using it more as time goes on.
Also, Yes I do like the video. It nice sometimes just to sit back and listen to the spoken word. Keep it up.

Yikes, when I first looked at the video, I almost thought you were my twin…holy smokes, Batman!
Yes, I hear commercials on the radio now asking for people to follow talk show hosts and the like on twitter…have also heard some asking to add them as a friend on facebook.
Like the theme

Ya, Twitter is quickly becoming a big place to be… like Facebook. They are not yet there yet, but I think by the end of this year they will be, with everyone being on it including big companies.
