WordPress 2.8.2 – Unexpected
Woke up this morning and one of the first things I found was a notice of an update from WordPress to version 2.8.2. This one is to fix a vulnerability. From the WordPress blog
WordPress 2.8.2 fixes an XSS vulnerability. Comment author URLs were not fully sanitized when displayed in the admin. This could be exploited to redirect you away from the admin to another site.
Take the time to update your blogs asap. As always when they update I have put the video on doing it below.
Make sure to back up your data base and any theme updates before you hit the upgrade button.

Thanks Mike. since this is a vulnerability fix, I guess I need to update. I haven’t backed up my blogs in a while so now would be a good time to do that and then upgrade WrodPress.

No wonder smart bloggers pay you to maintain all this for them Mike – WP is too important a platform to avoid it, yet they have more updates than all the other programs I use put together.
As Lyndon said, all these updates should be outsourced – unless blogging is all one does, there’s no reason to tie up this much time with their constant updates – glad your service does it automatically after each of these!

Depends on what happened. If you have the data base you need to install the normal files then import the data base in through php My Admin wihich you can find in cPanel.
