WordPress 2.8 Update and Blog Talk Radio Replay
WordPress 2.8 released last night. Still finding new things that have been added each time I play around. The syntax highlighting was a surprise but a nice one. If you are editing your theme it color codes things like your favorite desk top code editor does.
Check out the video below from WordPress.tv
Last nights Blog Talk Radio is available for replay. Thanks to all that attended and to my co-host Steve Roye of Real First Steps. Lots of good information and we always have fun.
Have not seen any problems with upgrading through my main blogs. All have upgraded and seem seem to be working well. Power WordPress Users now have the new files available in the member’s download area.
Well got up way too early this morning as the dampness and my back are not getting along well but it did allow me to get this out much earlier than I normally would.
Finally , a shameless plug – The $20 discount on the re-launch of WordPress Made Easy (upgraded to include all the new features in 2.8) is only available until Saturday
Have a great day.

Hey Mike, thanks for the replay as I was not able to make the show. Will definitely be passing the word along about the discount for WordPress Made Easy. Looking forward to going through the update.

Looks like some great updates!
I just got through setting up WP 2.8 on a site that has been stagnant for quite some time. Looking to revive the site and gives me a chance to get familiar with the changes.
Once I am comfortable with the changes and make sure all my existing plugins play well together then I will be updating my other blogs as well.
BTW: As always, thanks for the replay of the Blog Talk Radio. Unfortunately it happens while I am driving home from work. I really appreciate the replay!

Thanks for the replay. I missed the first half or so of the call. Was glad you were able to record it. Info on categories and tags was very informative. Will have to check out the no-follow method.

Was a great show last night. Pity that the WP 2.8 wasn’t live then and it must have gone out while I was sleeping.
So I’m on my way now … It seems even better now…

Listened to the replay. Having trouble find where to make simple tags “no follow.” I looked at the plug in and it doesn’t seem to have any settings. Appreciate your answering the question about categories and tags. I will now stick to only one category for each post. Is there a maximum of tags to use. I sometimes have 4 or 5 which I presume is okay.

Great job on the broadcast, Mike, and on the update to WordPress Made Easy – it’s still well worth the investment after the price increase!
As to Earl’s comment, there are two different plugins named Simple Tags – maybe it’s not the version he’s using (I use the one with no configuration as well).

Hello Michael:
Is there a way to install the Blog Talk Radio icon into the sidebar section of my blog versus having to insert it into each post?
Best Regards,
Jon
