WordPress 2.9 is getting closer
I have been just a bit busy with The Old Bald Guy’s Blog Tour and more normal blogging so have been a few days behind on my beta blog. This morning I finally got around to it and upgraded to the 2nd beta version. As the betas roll out you can be sure that the final release is not far away.
The biggest changes are in dealing with images. You can do much more with your images. It creates thumbnails automatically. You can play with the image by cropping it, resizing it and even turning it.

And you can still add the appropriate tags and descriptions that you previously could.

So if you are using a lot of images on your blog this can be a great help.
Finally, while playing I found another new neat thing. Upgrade all your plugins at once.

No longer will you have to keep upgrading a plugin at a time.
So far I have not had any major problems with using this either so look for WordPress 2.9 to be arriving soon.

Thanks for the heads-up on this, Mike – til now I thought betas were fish you fed to your turtles!

No the turtles eat gold fish as betas would cost too much to use as food at least for this cheap Old Bald Guy.

Thanks for the information on WordPress 2.9. I am a beta tester myself, but have had other commitments for the last two weeks and have not had time to check much.
I like what I see so far. The image thing and also the multiple plugin upgrades.
Looking forward to the final release.

Looks like they have made some interesting additional features.
I particularly like the option of updating all the plug-ins at once.
The new features on the images will be nice as well. Looking forward to checking those out.

Looks like the wordpress platform just gets better and better. Looking forward to easier image management. And all at once plug in update will be a time saver. Not a major deal but nice nonetheless.
