Hi Mike

I learned a couple things watching your vid, thanks. I also had problems with the auto update in 2.7.0, in regards to the FTP info it was looking for. It accepted the info the first time, then next time it wouldn’t. I couldn’t delete plugins, or do the auto updates on anything. I went pawing around the forums on WP and someone suggested using the actual IP address instead of localhost or what ever it was looking for there.
That did the trick for me on all my blogs, I updated to 2.7.1, deleted and updated plugins with no sweat. Have not tried any updating since 2.7.1 But with the IP working it may be hard to tell if that bug was fixed.

You can only access phpmyadmin from your web hosting panel whether or not it is cpanel, flesk or any of the others to download the data base.

FTP only gives you access to the files on the server.

Thanks for the Video, Mike,I upgraded at 2 of my blogs fine but on one blog it appears I will have to upgrade manually. I have had trouble updating plug ins there.

Hi Mike, Did the manual upgrade. Did see an ypgarde for communtluv. Clicked autoupgrade and it worked fine. So the ftp problem in 2.7.0 was fixed in 2.7.1 Great! Fred Fred Lotgering´s last blog post..List Building and Relationship Marketing

Are you also having problems with the auto upgrade for plugins?

Seems on the 2.7 if you made a mistake on the ftp it would not allow you to fix it and was supposed to be one of the fixes but I have not checked the full list to see if it was.

Your host should have some type of access to php myadmn and that is what you need to export the database.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for the video. I’ll do a back up of the files you suggested before upgrading.
My host does not have Cpanel so I’ll have to dig to see how to back up my database.
I really should switch to Hostgator
