As hard as I have tried to make it really simple for anyone to learn to install and customize Word Press through both my multi-media course and my membership site. I know that there are people out there that would like to have a good looking search engine friendly blog but don’t want to learn how to set them up.
I created a new service to do everything needed to get a blog going from installation to domain registration to hosting. You can check it out here.
What is more important to me is that the items in the report work.
See Paul Kinder just started his blog. Now he had bought my Word Press Made Easy multi-media course towards the end of November. Because Paul is about as non techie a person as I know I gave him a copy of the report as soon as I wrote it to review for me.
I figured if Paul could follow it then I had not left anything out inadvertently. He tweaked his blog using the report.
Well, imagine my surprise on Tuesday evening when I opened my Gmail to check it. See for a lot of things that I do on line I use Google Alerts to track things. One of the things I track is my name – Mike Paetzold. That is what first showed me that the 7 steps had really made a difference.
I started getting my posts shown in the alerts on the same day I posted instead of 4 – 8 days later. Now the shocking part on Tuesday was that Paul’s post on his 3 week old blog about my report was also in the alert with the post from my blog.
See I thought the fact that my blog had been around for a while and been used regularly might have helped speed the indexing up. After all search engines love sites with regularly updated content. Alas, even Paul’s new blog got the same treatment as my established blog once it was set up properly.
I just launched my new membership site for Word Press. So far the top 3 referrers are
Joe Brochin
Paul Kindler
Jon Olson
Thanks guys. If you haven’t seen it check out 7 Tips report on the front end. The real meat though is in the back end. Gold members get a monthly review of 3 themes and a variety of plugins that work well with them. Also, video tutorials to walk you through the upload and turning all the plugins properly.
I will also be adding a variety of short videos. Currently they cover using FTP, working with zip files and verification process for Google sitemaps. More will be added. Leave a comment with your ideas of what would be helpful.
I have always known that using plugins properly and creating a search engine friendly blog helps your traffic.
The speed that it can happen sometimes is amazing. Search engines like blogs.
Here is an example – I posted on the 13th at my marketing blog about Mike Filsaime’s “The Death of Internet Marketing” report. Not unusual in and of itself. You can see the post here.
Another blogger decided to make a post about Mike Fisaime and this report the next day. Guess who ended up being quoted the next day because of his search? You got it. Less than 24 hours later someone searching on that topic comes up with my post in their search.
Taking the time to tweak your blog does pay off. Using the plugins properly will make a huge difference for you. If you aren’t using pluguns for technorati tags, changing your meta tags, adding a Google sitemap you are missing tons of traffic. You can fine more information on this at Word Press Made Easy.
Well the site is now live. If you visit Word Press Made Easy you can see and actually purchase the product.
If you have always wanted to know how hard it is to change a blog from looking like this to the look of this blog you are reading you might want to check it out.
I installed both of these blogs while recording the results. You will be able to watch me create and customize a brand new blog. Start with getting the zip file from Word Press and ending with a customized blog.
Also, did it the easy way using Fantastico which only takes about 4 minutes from the start until you have a blog at least up and running.
You get a book and videos that will allow you to follow me as I actually do this step by step. Even a couple nice bonuses that will explain some strange things to a new person like FTP and unzipping.
So if you have considered using Word Press and just did not know if you could handle the technical stuff check out Word Press Made Easy.
All that remains is for the payment buttons to be made live. That will happen on August 3rd. Probably will be early morning.
I am off to go see the Lion King at the Academy of Music in Philiadelphia. This is my Christmas present but have had to wait as even back in November this was the earliest seats that were available.
If you are someone that has received or purchased Word Press Made Easy in the prelaunch phase you may now access the forum here.
All sections have been added and there are instructions on how to get access to the private sections.
JV partners will get a mailing from me over the weekend with a sample mailing for their lists.
Things are coming together quite nicely and I have had the videos worked over by a video expert. This has reduced the download size tremendously without a loss of clarity in the videos. Thanks RC.
If you are looking for help with videos for any of your projects contact me and I will gladly get you in touch with RC.
Have you ever thought about creating your own blog and was scared to try. Well I have been there and done that.
My first blog was done on a pmachine script quite a while back. If not for a friend who literally held my hand and walked me through the process step by step I never would have been able to do it. Didn’t even know what a MySQL data base was let alone how to do it. Then to set up the config file so it could access the data base I made. Yuck! Was scared to death it wouldn’t work and my hosting account would be screwed up forever.
Well he helped me and that is why I decided to create Word Press Made Easy. Even with the advent of Fantastico on most cPanel servers there are too many bogs that just look like a blank default template with none of the plugins or themes added.
See I look at a lot of blogs every month. I run Blogazoo so just in approving the blogs I see hundreds if not thousands each month. With everything that is available now there is no excuse for some of the blogs I see. This will show you how to alleviate that problem even if you are like I was and haven’t an idea what a MySQL data base is.
Would like to welcome all to this blog. It was created to help people to easily create and improve their Word Press blogs and have them look like their blog not a cookie cutter.
Look for more information to be added.
The product Word Press Made Easy will be launching on August 3.
