Changing your blog to do follow
I am continuing the series of answers to questions that were asked in my pre-Christmas post. You can ask your questions to be added to the series by commenting on this or any other post.
Today’s question:
What is the best plugin to convert a blog to DoFollow
Do Follow is the plugin I use. It is easy to set up. Just upload it, activate it and go to settings.

You can set it to automatically remove the no follow from comments or trackbacks or both. Personally I remove them from both because I want to reward those that add quality comments or link back to my blog.
The downside is that you need to moderate your comments because you will get more spammy trackbacks and comments because you are using do follow.
As always your questions and comments are welcomed.

Mike thanks for this tip/info on the Do Follow plugin. I will check it out.
I have a question for you. What is the procedure to use if you want to transfer a current blog to a different server? Can you just back it up on the current server and then restore it to the new server?

I have always had a hard time understanding the importance of that plugin. Thank you for making it a bit clearer as to the proper usage.

Yep, I use this as plugin as well. We have our blogs for visitors to read, and if they spend their time commenting, the least I can do is give them a good link back.

I’ve always had a lot of spam problems with allowing Do follow. I’m glad people are starting to make that leap and enabling do follow. Great info hopefully more people will start changing their blogs.

Changing a blog to do follow won’t allow any spam comments to come through will it? I use the Akismet spam blocker, and I get a ton of spam comments on two of my sites. I heard that those comments can have a negative effect on a site’s ranking. Is that true? If low ranking sites comment on my site while it’s do follow, will that also have a negative effect on my site? Do comments from valid sites have a positive impact on a sites ranking? Sorry for all the questions!!

I moderate all comments to avoid spam. It is a bit of work and use WP Spam Free plugin in addition to Askimet. The two do a good job for me.
