How do you shut off the wysiwyg on WordPress?
By Mike | December 19, 2007

This is another question from my monthly call.
This is relatively easy and one of the first things I do when I set up a new blog.
Log in to your dashboard.
Click the users button
Click your profile
Uncheck the box next to “Use the visual editor when writing”
Click the update button.
See the image below

Your questions and comments are always appreciated.

Why would I want to shut it off? Is there an advantage?
I’m not a coder, although I can. I consider myself more of a writer who can code when necessary.
If there’s an advantage to turning it off, I’d definitely like to hear what it is. Thanks.

It is a matter of personal preference. You can do a bit more easier if you are used to html or use an editor for writing your posts.
Not so much on this blog but on some otheres that I use more in the way of images as part of the content it is much easier for me to do it in my editor and copy and paste it in.
If you don’t have a quality html editor then it is easier to use the wysiwyg.
