What are the advantages of hosting your own blog?

Going to start adding in the questions that came fom the call I did on July 5th. This will be the first of a series. You can listen to the whole 1-3/4 hour call at The Call Replay.

This is a common question that comes up quite frequently.

First you control the blog if you host it. As long as you pay for your hosting your blog will stay on line. Having a portion of my business where someone else can just turn off the switch worries me.

Second - if you are actively working to get back links (and you should be) you will want those to go to a domain that you control. If you create a high PR site you have an asset you can sell.

Third - You can customize the site and add more plugins if you control the site. Even though you have choices with the other services you do limit your self.
