Have to say that I am a bit perplexed. Not really all that unusual I am old and bald and these things happen sometimes. What has me perplexed is the lack of response to just one post.
Usually I get a good number of people commenting when I talk about a variety of topics but that dried up when I asked what kind of plugin you would like?
See I have paid a programmer a couple hundred dollars to get specific plugins made for me. Everyone here has a chance to get a talented programmer – Robert Plank – to make a plugin for your blog that you can get here for free.
Just need to add your idea in the comments and have it be the one picked.
Despite that there have only been two submissions previously.
I love the offer to make the plugin from Robert but would really prefer it to be an idea from a reader not just what I want so let me know and allow this old bald guy to become a bit less perplexed. Maude will appreciate it and I can stop going around the house going “Huh?”
I talk a lot about Twitter and your blog but last night I got this message.
@MikePaetzold Hey Robert Plank rules and Mike Paetzold sucks… just kidding… can I make a WordPress plugin just for your blog readers?
So of course I said yes but now the question is what kind of plugin would you like to get?
Now a bit of background here. Robert is a bud from way back and I met him through Robert Puddy. A few years ago he did a whole post at the Warrior’s Forum asking people to call in and leave a message “Robert Puddy sucks… Robert Plank rocks…” and put the results on line.
When I finally met Robert in Philly last year at JV Alert I walked up behind him in the bar and reversed the saying. Now you understand the tweet I got from him.
So lets get back to the point here. Robert is a talented programmer and does great plugins. He has even created a product that I own that will help you create your own plugins called WordPress On Crack.
What plugin would you like to have created that you can get from here made to do what you want?
Leave your comments here to let me know. I also recommend you follow Robert Plank on Twitter and check out his blog. Robert is one of the good guys despite what he said about me.
Okay I like to play with new things. Guess that is why I got hooked on WordPress because there are always new things to play with
Networking can be very beneficial. One of the people that I saw earlier this month in Philadelphia at JV Alert got in touch with me through Facebook. Jason Dee Elvis just created a plugin that I have started playing with called WP Comment Remix.
This does some neat things with the comments on your blog. Now I have not started playing with the tag functions in this yet
But I love what it does for the comments. You can reply directly to specific comments and link them. You can also automatically quote the comment with just the click of a link.
Now Old Bald Guy’s just love things that make life easier and this will help not only me but YOU.
Everyone can reply directly to a commenter and it will be much easier to follow any conversation in the comments for everyone.
It will even show me how many comments I have not replied directly to (and it was a lot) inside your dashboard.
Now to go play with the tagging feature and see how that works.
Great job Jason.
As always your comments and questions are welcomed.
Well it has been a while as I have been extremely busy with a few projects that have taken priority over posting here. (I know shame on me.) Back to questions today.
I read the report “Get your blog going†which was very interesting. You refer to several tools such as plug-ins with reference to WordPress. All my 8 blogs are in Blogger. I tried WordPress once but got stuck so went back to the easier Blogger. Can I still use these techniques in Blogger? If so, how?
Not that I know of. There are two reasons that I don’t care for Blogger for any primary blog. The lack of automation and customization of the structure of the blog.
I mean you can make them look unique and do some nice things with pulling feeds but…
(First I am not an expert on Blogger and there may be things to do this that I am not aware of) you can’t automate the pinging, create custom title tags and things that I feel are necessary to make your blog more powerful.
My other problem with Blogger (actually any site I don’t own and control) is that you can have your account disappear and have no recourse. You also don’t own the domain (yes I know you can forward to your own domain) and it takes work to create backlinks, bookmark posts etc and that can disappear with no recourse on your part.
Now before you get too mad Blogger does have some good things and can and should be used as part of your overall blogging just not for your primary blogs (in my humble opinion.) If someone that is more expert in Blogger blogs can let me know if I am missing things I would appreciate it as even Old Bald Guys can learn new things.
