Posting with WordPress 2.5

Because of the changes to version 2.5 I did a quick video walk through to show you how the new posting works.

Hope you enjoy.

WordPress 2.5 – 2 thumbs up

Well I have changed quite a few blogs over to the latest version of WordPress – 2.5 and have had no problems so far.

Unlike the last major change when they went to 2.3 I have had no trouble with the various plugins not wanting to play nice with this version.

The biggest thing I have found is the look in the back. There is a video tour in a previous post. Widgets have become easier to use and I occasionally have a problem finding something but all in all it has been a very smooth transition.

I haven’t used their WYSIWYG and won’t as I use Blog Desk for composing my posts. It allows me to do all the editing and image manipulation on my desk top.

Now I only upload with it and do not publish direct (even though I could) because I can’t manipulate the tags and title tags from my desktop.

As title tags and tagging improve your results I would recommend you do the same.

A lot of the new features in this one probably won’t come to fruition for a bit as this looks to be the base upon which they will build in the future. Getting used to this now will allow you to take advantage of some of the upcoming features.

Looks to be relatively safe to do this upgrade at this time in my humble opinion.

As always your comments and questions are welcomed.

WordPress 2.5 – So far so good

Started playing with the new version of WordPress the last few days.

It has been a relatively pleasant experience for me unlike the change to 2.3 which was a nightmare.

So far have not had any plugins problems (rare for a new version) and the ability to upgrade the plugins from the dashboard seems to work most of the time. I have had a few problems and gotten a few errors but that may have been a hiccup on my server or theirs. Further testing will let us know.

The interface is quite different and I will be upgrading a few sites before I would recommend that others do. I have however used it for a couple new sites with no problems.

Look for a video walk through in the next few days here of the new interface.

If you are doing a new blog use it. Upgrading I would wait a bit yet and see if any bugs surface.

Overall, probably the best release I have seen in quite a while and will be interesting to see how they use this for the next generation.

My gut tells me the next version is where the major changes lie.

P.S. Don’t forget the WordPress Q and A tonight at 9pm.
