WordPress 2.7 preview

Been playing with WordPress 2.7 on my beta test blog and it is definitely going to make blogging easier.
Here is a quick view from WordPress of some of the new features.
Lots of new features coming with this but still testing to see whether or not it pays to upgrade right away. As a rule you are usually better to wait for the first update. This allows the early testers to find the bugs and the plugin authors a chance to make any changes they need to to work with the new format.
Keep tuned here for the latest news and tips here.
As always your questions and comments are welcomed.

Mike,
Thanks for the preview…I am still hesitant to upgrade to 2.6.3. After seeing this video, I may have to take the plunge and upgrade to be able to access some of the new features.
Thanks again.

@Ron Barrett -
Couple things if you are using the 2.6 series you should be on 2.6.3 as it is a security update. The change to 2.7 will be feature driven so it won’t hurt to watch and see how it goes.

Mike,
Thanks for the update on version 2.7. Will you incorporate these changes in the wordpress course you market?
Am wanting to purchase that at some point.
Thanks
Glenn

Yes I will be and regularly update the 7 Tips but have been waiting for 2.7 to do a new update on WordPress Made Easy.

Mike,
I haven’t even upgraded to 2.6.3 yet, and now they’re releasing 2.7?!
Guess I need to catch up. I like using Fantastico to do my installs because it backs everything up before the install, so I can go back to the way it was before. When Fantastico shows the update, then I’ll upgrade.
Thanks for the preview.

Fantastico will usually leave you behind in upgrading. Depending on your host I have seen Fantastico be at least one and usually 2 or 3 weeks behind minimum.

Hi Mike
now that sounds like a cool dashboard. Will wait till the bugs are smoothed out before I try it.

Another great post, Mike - and very wise words… After 12+ years online, I know better to take the .0 version of almost ANY software, especially when it can mess up what I’ve done to date.
Have to say though, 2.7 definitely looks more user-friendly for pros like yourself and easier for newbies too - will have to check it out once they release a stable version!
