WordPress announces 2.9 release candidate
WordPress announced the first release candidate for version 2.9. You can read the full details here.
If this goes well they will release version 2.9 by the end of the week. (Guess it is time to get the upgrade video ready,,, Again
)
Some really neat things coming with it especially for handling images and for updating things in bulk.
If you are a plugin author it is time to do some testing and make sure that your plugin is compliant.
Now like all WordPress releases lets see what problems come to light and whether or not they stay on this schedule.

By now I have just come to expect an update and look forward to it. This one sounds like it might be pretty nice but I will reserve judgement until I hear something from you. Have to make sure I visit that video also.

No matter what happens we all know Mike will have our backs.
Speaking of backup I guess I should go ahead and do mine too. We should all actually backup before performing any upgrades I suppose. You have a good backup video/method/plugin Mike? I honestly don’t know if I have done a backup on WordPress yet. I haven’t seen a option for a backup so I can only assume it would be a normal server backup including the MySQL database or do you have a super cool WordPress expert way of doing them?

You can use the WP database plugin to do the databases. Will be posting the upgrade and backup videos once they release 2.9 live.

Sounds like a good update for WordPress. I check out the “full details here” page. I don’t understand half of what is there. Looks like a lot of things are changing. Will work on getting a back up done and waiting for you tell us how it all looks and when it is ready. Thanks for the update.

Oh boy, here we go again
At least we know that WordPress is working hard to keep the software updated and as safe as possible.
Thanks for the heads up Mike. Time to get the backup drive ready again.
Thanks,

I love to get these updates from you Mike – although I usually leave the actual upgrade a week or two, just to be careful!
