Today we look at what Google Webmaster Tools can tell you about what they see from your links. Some of this you can’t control and other parts you can.

links

The dashboard will give you an overview of the pages that are linked to but when you click the more button you get more detail that can help you.

The anchor text that is linking back to your various pages is important in allowing Google to know what others think of your site.

Now for this domain the results showed 200 items and I just grabbed the top 12. This allows me to see how people are linking to me. If you are actively seeking back links through commenting or bookmarking you will see how effective you have been.

The final item fro Google Webmaster Tools is the keywords section.

keywords 001

This will show you the most common keywords Google has found while crawling your site and rank them by relevance. Not surprising for this blog which discusses blogs and WordPress those are the top 2 keywords per Google.

Now for niche blogs this can show you how relevant Google thinks your blog is to certain topics. If they are not showing what you would expect maybe you need to check out your content and you can target items you want better.

Hopefully you have enjoyed this series and can see what a powerful tool Google Webmaster Tools can be in showing you how Google views your site.

As always your questions and comments are welcomed.
